Reusability of Nano-Fe3O4/Polyvinylidene Difluoride Membrane for Palm Oil Mill Effluent Treatment

Membrane reusability determines the economic sustainability of separation process. However, membrane was deduced by antifouling properties, while actual reuse performance using palm oil mill effluent (POME) is rarely reported. This study investigates nano-Fe3O4/PVDF (PVDF1) for POME treatment. The chemical oxygen demand (COD), total suspended solid (TSS) permeate, molecular weight cut off (MWCO), pure water flux (PWF) and contact angle (CA) membranes were also determined. Result showed that neat (PVDF0) PVDF1 exhibited ~77°, ~342 L/(m2.h) ~70°, 278 CA PWF, respectively, due to small MWCO in PVDF1. maintained at ~16 5 cycles filtration COD rejection higher PVDF 1 compared PVDF0, consistent ~58 % ~98 TSS removal all cycles. good presence nano-Fe3O4, improved hydrophilicity tailored pore size treatment.
